Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes
Favorites | Instant Pot | Side
Mashed potatoes are so simple in an instant pot. All you have to do is add your potatoes, add some water, and then set it and walk away. No more worrying about your pot boiling over or making a mess of the stove. All you have to worry about now is whether to leave the skins on or off?
What you’ll need for this recipe:
Instructions
- Wash and peel (if desired), then cut the potatoes. I used about 20 medium yellow potatoes.
- Add cut potatoes to the instant pot.
- Add in about 2 cups of water (add in the bullion if using and give it a quick mix)
- Close the lid and set the valve to seal.

- Set the instant pot to: custom – high – 10 mins, and then let the instant pot do its thing.
- Once the potatoes are done cooking, do a quick release of the pressure, and then open the lid.
- If needed, remove some of the liquid and set aside, incase you need to add some back.
- Mash the potatoes. I normally use a potato masher but i have seen others use a hand mixer or even an immersion blender (use what you like).
- Season the potatoes.
*When I season potatoes I DON’T MEASURE. I just add a little bit here and there until it tastes the way I want it to. I would recommend adding about an 1/8 – 1/4 tsp of seasoning at a time… always tasting and adjusting until it comes out (how you like it).
