Basic Bread Dough
If you are looking for a soft and fluffy bread dough, look no further. This is the recipe you’ve been searching for. It comes together quickly and is great for making a delicious side or sandwich.
What you’ll need for this recipe:

Instructions:
- In a medium sauce pan (or a microwave safe bowl) add in the milk and butter. Warm just enough to melt the butter… but don’t scald the milk. Set aside and let it cool down if needed.

- While the milk and butter are warming, add the rest of the ingredients to your mixer: warm water, yeast, sugar, salt, egg, flour.
- Once the milk and butter are warm, turn the mixer on low, and slowly add them to the mixer… with the other ingredients. *adding more flour if needed.

- Mix the dough for 3-5 minutes. Once dough is finished mixing, transfer the dough to a well oiled bowl. Oil the lid and cover the dough… let the dough rise until double in size.

- Once the dough has doubled in size, punch the dough down and shape it into rolls or a loaf of bread.
- To make rolls, pinch off about the size of golf ball (or slightly larger)… roll it into a ball and stick it onto a cookie sheet (lined with parchment paper). Cover and let rise. I was able to get approximately 30 rolls onto 1 pan.
- To make a bread loaf, oil your pan and shape dough into a loaf. Place shaped dough into the pan. Cover and let rise.

- Once the dough is shaped and rising in the pan, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Once the oven finishes preheating, place the dough in the oven and bake for 15-20 mins.
- When the bread is done baking, remove it from the oven let it cool down… enjoy!

Recipe Tips
Warm the milk and butter together: You want to warm the milk not scald it. If milk and butter are too hot, it will cook the egg and kill the yeast. If too hot set aside and let it cool down before adding to the mixer.
Add more flour if needed: If dough is not scraping the side of the bowl clean, add more flour in small amounts. You want the dough to be tacky but not too tacky.
If your house is cold the dough will take longer to rise: To solve this problem, I like to preheat my oven to the lowest setting (about 175 degrees). Once the oven is warm, place the bowl with the bread dough on a cookie sheet, and put it in the oven to rise.
If using a convection setting: reduce cook time by 5-10 minutes.
